Dolphins Vs. Steelers

Posted by glassonion on September 8, 2006

I could have sworn that the Dolphins would pull this one out. The game started a bit slow but I really didn’t care as I was finally watching a meaningful NFL game. Some observations:

I really am starting to like Wes Welker. I always had a soft spot for him ever since this wide receiver stepped in for Olindo Mare and kicked a couple of extra points and kicked off during a game a couple years ago. I have a feeling he will be making some huge plays on special teams week in and week out and will even come up with some huge catches this year. He is the Dolphins secret weapon.

Ronnie Brown however is the not so secret weapon. Sure he had a couple of TD’s but nothing really impressed me. He has so much riding on his shoulders this year but I see him as pretty much the second coming of Lamar Smith. He will get his carries, yards and TD’s but it is totally by default. The Dolphins simply don’t have enough depth to even think about giving it to someone else.

It was nice to see Charlie Batch have a good solid game. I was just waiting for him to struggle so that I would have the chance to refer to him as “Charlie Be-atch” but alas his performance spared him of this. I also couldn’t help but notice that either his helmet was way too small for him or he happens to have the largest head ever on a human being. He did throw a couple of great passes and the Heath Miller touchdown pumped me up.

In general, I don’t think that I can recall a team imploding in as short a time period as the ‘Phins did tonight. Jeez, they had the lead and then WHAM, the whole game goes shit-house on them all set in motion by Heath Millers 87 yard reception. By the way, he was TOTALLY out of bounds and Nick Saban should have thrown the red hanky way earlier than he did.

All in all, a pretty good start to the season.
